TOURNAMENT GUIDE · 04

Tournament regulations.

How the competition is run: who decides what, what every team must bring, and the rules that apply from the technical meeting to the final whistle.

These regulations determine the competition system, together with the rights, obligations and duties of everyone taking part. They follow the text adopted in Brčko on 16 December 2025, set here for the three categories of the coming tournament.

What follows is the working summary teams need, article by article. The signed bilingual document is the binding version.

Who runs the competition

A Commissioner appointed by the organizer leads the competition in the 2010, 2012 and 2014 categories. The Commissioner manages the competition under these regulations, registers every match, decides all matters and disciplinary measures at first instance, appoints match officials and publishes a bulletin after each competition day.

A team appeal is decided no later than two hours before that team’s next match. The match delegate must read the bulletin before every match, in particular where a player or official is suspended.

What every team must do

  1. 01

Present your roster at the technical meeting

Held the day before the tournament starts. Every name is verified against a valid travel document or identity card.

  2. 02

    Keep the numbers fixed

The list carries surname, first name and jersey number, and that number stays the same for every match. Officials are listed with their role.

  3. 03

Sign the match report in time

Prepared at least 45 minutes before throw-off and signed by the team representatives and the medical person. Roster changes close 60 minutes before the match.

Match length and ball size

Set by the organizer because of the number of matches played. Each category takes the settings of its place in the tournament, so the oldest group plays the longest match with the largest ball.

CategoryMatch lengthBall sizeSuspension
20102 × 25 minSize 32 minutes
20122 × 20 minSize 21 minute
20142 × 20 minSize 11 minute

Half-time break is five minutes in every category.

On court

PointRule
KitOne uniform kit per team. Goalkeepers wear the same colour as each other and a different colour from their own field players and from both opponents.
Colour choiceThe first named team chooses its kit colour.
Team time-outOne per half. A time-out not used in the first half does not carry over as a second one.
BallsTeam A provides two valid match balls before throw-off.
PointsTwo for a win, one for a draw, none for a defeat.
Warm-upIn the designated area, not on the playing court. Warm-up with a ball on the court is capped at ten minutes.

Groups, ranking and ties

The competition runs on a single round-robin point system. Teams are drawn into groups, and the number of matches follows the number of teams in each group.

Group placing is decided on points. When teams finish level, the order is settled in turn by: the result between the tied teams, then points in the matches between them, then goal difference in those matches, then goal difference in the group, then goals scored in the group, and finally a draw conducted by the Commissioner.

Any placement match that ends level is decided by five series of seven-metre throws.

Discipline, medical cover and paperwork

Disqualification with report means suspension for the next match. A statement added to a match report must be made in a fair and sportsmanlike way and properly explained, especially when it supports an appeal.

The organizer provides a qualified medical person for the whole tournament. No match may be played without one present in the hall.

The match report is written in three copies and carries the names of the referees, delegate, scorekeeper, timekeeper, official doctor and floor manager alongside the team members.

Officials for the first competition day are announced immediately after the technical meeting, and for the following days at the end of each competition day.
